Our Experience

Dusty Tusk's Founder

Dusty Tusk's founder, Zara Sharma, has experience in game development dating back to the early 2000s. Working with small studios and indie developers, Zara has learnt to wear many hats and take on multiple roles to ensure games are able to reach the standard required.  Working as a lead game designer and generalist artist for Dusty Tusk Studio, she's able to maintain a hands on role in development.

Zara has spent over ten years of her career in games education, understands barriers and how to overcome them. She's happy to support education and curriculum growth.

Favourite games of all time:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2016)
  • Tomb Raider II (1997)
  • Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins (2000)
  • Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988)
  • Nier: Automata (2017)
  • Silent Hill 2 (2001)
  • Pokémon Red (1999)
  • Red Dead Redemption (2010)
  • The 7th Guest (1993)

Dusty Tusk's Origin

Dusty Tusk Studio was made with developers in mind, and knowing that not all people are able to work well during a rigid working day. There are core hours to arrange where any meetings can take place, however, the remaining work schedule can be based around your own needs.  The studio is 100% remote and people focused, we strongly believe that happy people make great things.

We enjoy working with new and local talent, this is something we've been able to facilitate due to our founder's links with games education. We proudly support and nurture juniors within Dusty Tusk Studio, seeing value of fresh talent whilst also being able to provide meaningful support and mentoring.

Dusty Tusk's name and logo were inspired by a documentary, which uncovered a mammoth whose tusk disintegrated when exposed to oxygen. We like to keep this reminder in our name and logo to help us remain resource aware and eliminate waste in our environment. Even the strongest things can have a delicacy about them, we like to keep this in mind when we work on anything.
